Illinois Medical Center Groundbreaking August 16, 2006

Local and state dignitaries, along with physicians and UICOMP representatives, break ground for the new medical center in Peoria.

This 121,000 square foot medical center will bring various teaching medical specialties together within close proximity to the downtown hospitals and UICOMP.

The event was attended by approximately 200 people including Peoria Mayor Jim Ardis who stated, “Illinois Medical Center is the coming together of many different groups including these committed physician groups, leaders of the City of Peoria, and the College of Medicine. This facility will be a bridge to the other downtown medical facilities and will further enhance education and research opportunities.”

The IMC groundbreaking represents the next step in Peoria’s ongoing leadership in providing comprehensive, world-class medical care to the region. The building is projected to be completed in 2008 and is the next step in the development of Renaissance Park.

Illinois Lung Institute is partnering with two other well-established physician groups, Peoria Surgical Group, Ltd., and Gastroenterology, Ltd.

The builder is P.J. Hoerr of Peoria; architects are Farnsworth Group of Peoria and Medical Design International of Atlanta. The project is being financed by Morton Community Bank.
